Even in retirement, Pointer Group director Jonah Latham will be keeping the wheels turning. I see that at a retirement ceremony last week he was presented with a Morris 1100 as a surprise presentation from the company—which also handed over a cheque for £1,000, He also received a watch from the staff.
Making the presentation, group chairman Peter Pointer said: "Nothing was ever too much trouble for him; we shall miss his years of experience in the transport business." Nice tribute.
Mr. Latham joined Pointer as transport manager in 1944 and was successively fleet manager and area manager before joining the board. When he joined Pointer they had 40 vehicles; now they've nearly 500.
