Visiting Automotive Products at Leamington Spa this week I was heartened to hear that commercial vehicle fleet operators throughout the country are now taking a very lively interest in safety devices and braking developments. Not so long ago the few safety enthusiasts rather stood out from the general lethargy.
Operators will, I'm sure, be interested to learn that AP's A.ntilok anti-skidding system will be in production early next year for commercial vehicles—and in a very highly developed form compared with the experimental version demonstrated .a couple of years ago. The device will initially be for fitment to driving axles, where it senses load, deceleration and road surface friction and interprets these so as to stop wheellocking under braking. As well as providing optimum braking its great value is, of course, as a jack-knife preventer on allies.
