• The first prosecutions in the West Midland Traffic Area in connection with the new plating and testing regulations have been heard, the first being in Rugby when W. H. In Newcastle-under-Lyme on Monday J. C. Parton, Woore, nr. Crewe, was fined £2 under 14(1) (Plating) and £5 under 14(2) (Testing) and another £2 for failing to keep drivers' records. Awarding £7 17s 6d against the defendant the magistrates said they had dealt leniently with this case because it was the first of its kind in their court but they would be looking for the maximum fine for any further ones.

On Tuesday at Stourbridge. J. Pargeter and Son Ltd., of that town, was fined £10 on both counts on two different dates and will have to pay 8gns costs.
