ALARGE share of the time devoted to the conference was occupied by an extraordinary general meeting called to consider one ordinary resolution and 10 special resolutions, all of them relating to the constitution of the Association and, in their adoption, involving alterations to the articles of association.
Apart from some preliminary and comparatively unimportant resolutions affecting subscriptions and eligibility for membership, these modifications had chiefly to do with the regrouping of the divisions of the Association, so that in future they should substantially conform with the present traffic areas. Several of the resolutions dealt with the modification in administration brought about by this change and the remainder concerned the constitution of the committee, similarly involved.
All but one of the proposals were carried. That exception proposed that each member should have one additional vote for each attached operational branch provided that no member should be entitled to more than 15 additional votes.
Exception was taken to this proposal on the ground that it would give one particular member of the Association a preponderance of voting power and, after some discussion of the question, it was negatived.
