Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE safety aspect of air conditioning for the driver's cab is a feature that has been specially emphasized in connection with the new W.B. chassis series now being manufactured 'by the White Motor Co., of Cleveland, U.S.A.

Particularly in certain countries abroad, the driver is confined to the cab for long periods, and it was recognized as desirable that in the post-war design his physical comfort should .be given the greatest possible consideration. The effects of the manufacturer's recent researches can be seen in the latest types of cab.

Of first importance is the heating and ventilating system, which levels varying temperatures and circulates fresh air.

The air enters the cab through a diffuser mounted in the instrument panel in front of the driver. Being compact in design, the White ventilating and heating system is housed under the cowl at the back of the instrument panel. The complete unit consists of an air scoop, a water-control valve, a capillarytube unit, hot water heating core, motor blower unit, air diffuser and foot outlet.

Air enters the duct through the scoop and, by means of the blower, is forced

through two outlets and circulated through the cab. Cab temperature is regulated by manual adjustment of the water valve, which controls the flow of water to the heater. A clockwise turn increases the flow and vice versa. Once manual adjustment has been made to the temperature desired, it is then automatically maintained by the action of the capillary-tube unit on a diaphragm contained in the control.

Regulation of the air flow through the diffuser and foot outlet is controlled by a throttle; when the knob is pulled out the air flow goes straight to the foot outlet, and when at the full " in " position the entire flow comes through the diffuser. Desired variations are obtained by setting the knob at an intermediate position, An assured fresh-air supply of this type should be a valuable feature in combating drowsiness.

Among other interesting features of the cab is the instrument panel, which can be slipped out in a moment or two when it is necessary to examine wiring, cables or oil line. The driver's seat can not only be adjusted backwards or forwards, but the seat cushion can also be tilted so as to give greater comfort.
