Thanks to thugs

London bus passengers are, I gather, indirectly obligated to thugs. Emergency radio sets, which have been installed in more than 2,200 buses operating out of 38 garages to enable assaulted crews to call for assistance, are being useful in other less spectacular ways.
London bus operations are going through a particularly bad phase and anything that enables problems caused by traffic congestion, mechanical failure and other reasons to be tackled quickly helps passengers. Bus crews can report by radio to control headquarters at Mansion House, which is also linked to 40 radio manned by inspectors, and to 20 recovery vehicles.
But for the hooligans who beat up busmen, radio might not have been installed and passengers might have even longer waits at freezing bus stops.
