floor maintenance machine has been introduced by Progress (Universal), Ltd., Aldershot, Hants: This new model, the Universal D.C., is equipped with a h.p. D.C. motor and has been developed for use in premises where only D.C. electricity supplieg ate available.
Like the Universal Mark IV, the Universal D.C. is easily' adapted to per form a variety of functions. It will suction-sweep and polish, dry clean, sand, scour and scarify. The cleaning action is fast and vigorous as the brushes, pads or cleaning attachments oscillate at 2,800 r.p.m. It is claimed that.6,000 sq. ft. of floor can be polished or 4,000 sq. ft. scrubbed in an hour.
The machine can be operated singlehanded as there is no tendency for it to drift or pull away from the operator. The bristle action is said to give good results over uneven floors and. clean cracked surfaces and crevices.. There is a wide range of attachments enabling the machine to tackle a variety of cleaning problems.
