floor maintenance machine has been introduced by Progress (Universal), Ltd., Aldershot, Hants: This new model, the Universal D.C., is equipped with a h.p. D.C. motor and has been developed for use in premises where only D.C. electricity supplieg ate available.

Like the Universal Mark IV, the Universal D.C. is easily' adapted to per form a variety of functions. It will suction-sweep and polish, dry clean, sand, scour and scarify. The cleaning action is fast and vigorous as the brushes, pads or cleaning attachments oscillate at 2,800 r.p.m. It is claimed that.6,000 sq. ft. of floor can be polished or 4,000 sq. ft. scrubbed in an hour.
