Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AFTER a joint application five

operators for an express service between Barnsley and London had been amended. British Railways, the only objectors, withdrew at Leeds last week. The grant was made, subject to review after the first season's working.

The published application by the West Yorkshire. Yorkshire Traction, East Midland, Yorkshire Woollen District, and East Yorkshire companies was for a new road service licence for express carriages from Barnsley to London. It was to be operated on Fridays, Satur days, Sundays and Mondays from the Friday preceding Whit Sunday to the Monday following the third Sunday in September, inclusive. One vehicle would normally be required, with duplication if necessary. The maximum number of duplicate vehicles to be operated in any one direction on any one day would be two.

The amended form provided that vehicles would be taken out of existing duplication on road service licences but one additional unit would be allowed in each direction, on the days indicated.
