LONDON-GLASGOW EXPERIMENTAL SERVICE COMMENCED.

Mr. C. S. Bell, whose office at present is at 7, Park Lane, London, W.1, advises us that London, Scottish and Provincial Airways, Ltd., commenced on March 19 experimental operation on the route Croydon-Nottingham (Toilerton) Manchester (Barton) Glasgow (Renfrew). He also states that the company's policy will be one of closest possible co-operation with all other interests, and that there is no intention at present to make any public appeal for capital.

Heston-,Jersey: Double Easter Service.

Two services each way daily will be run by Jersey Airways, Ltd., on the Fleston-Jersey line during Easter week, March 29-April 4, Abridge Company Not Quite Ready.

The position in regard to the London (Abridge)-Glasgow daily service planned by Commercial Airways, (Essex), Ltd., is that it will probably start shortly, but the weather is not considered to be good enough yet. An Airspeed Courier is ready for delivery. The nominal capital has been increased from £1,250 to £7,000, of which, we are informed, £4,900 has been issued. The company is interested in the AbridgeNottingham-Hull and the Hull-LeedsManchester-Liverpool routes.

British Aircraft Exports.

In the months of January-February exports of "aeroplanes, airships, balloons and parts thereof (except magnetos) " had a value of £325,060, against £162,320 in January-February, 1033, and £304,424 in 1932.

,Avro to Build Autogiro.

A. V. Roe and Co., Ltd., Newton Heath, Manchester, which received some while ago an order from the Air Ministry for ten Autogiro aircraft, has made an agreement vial). the Cierva Autogiro Co., Ltd., to build this type of machine under licence. At first the direct-control two-seater will be produced.

Remarkable Service from Moths.

The Midland Aero Club, Castle Bromwich, has ordered new Moth Majors (top speed 112 m.p.h.) to replace four aeroplanes which have been worked continuously for from five to eight years. The veteran Moth G-EBLT has fiown, 2,228 hours since August, 1925, with practically uninterrupted service.

Birketes Two New Puss Moths.

Birkett Air Service, Ltd., Heston, has purchased two more Puss Moths to cope with its increased Press and B42 general charter work. There are now four Puss Moths of which one has a Marconi AD6n wireless set. Three are based at Heston, one at Manchester.

Railway Air Services: Advertising for a Manager.

Following the recent announcement of the formation of a company jointly between the four railways and Imperial Airways, Ltd., an advertisement for a manager appeared in The Times on March 15. It is reported that the first route. to be opened up will be one between London, Liverpool and Belfast, with perhaps a branch to Glasgow, and operation this summer is spoken of.

To Heston Through the Controlled Zone.

An amendment order to the Croydon controlled-zone notice (No. 81, of November 13, 1933) is likely to be made to enable aircraft from the Continent bound for Heston to pass through the Dorking Gap during hadvisibility periods.

Hull Aera. Club Development.

The Hull Aero Club is to be formed into a limited-liability company, having now come to an agreement with Hull Corporation whereby the club has taken over control of the aerodrome at Hedon. NEV PERCIVAL 185 M.P.H. CABIN MONOPLANE.

Mr. E. W. Percival, whose Percival Gull 140 m.p.h. cabin two-passenger monoplane was described in our 10th Air Transport Supplement (December 1), demonstrated at Gravesend on March 15 a new cabin-type low-wing single-seater with narrow fuselage and Napier Javelin engine, which cruises at 185 m.p.h., and has a top speed of 202 m.p.h. It might be used for urgent Press charters, etc., for it carries 50 lb. of freight.

Monospar Developments.

General Aircraft, Ltd., Croydon, is to produce a larger machine than the ST4 and ST6 (retractable undercarriage) types, which have Pobjoy engines and which were described in this paper on September 1;1933. The company's capital has been increased to £100,000, and -Mr. W. S. Stephenson, M.C., D.F.C., has joined the board. The company has acquired control of the Monospar Co., Ltd., the capital of which has been increased to £50,000.

HMI/Ian's Paris Traffic.

In the week to March 16, Hillman's Airways, Ltd„ carried 43 single-journey passengers• on the Romford-Paris Le Touquet for Easter.

During Easter week the British Air Navigation Co., Ltd., will run services between Heston and Berck (for Le Touquet), starting with three departures on Thursday, March 29. The return fare is £5 5s., the flight takes 45 reins., and light refreshments are served on the wireless-equipped Ford Trintotor used for this work. To-day (March 23) this machine is flying to Aintree fort the Grand National ; the return fare of £8 8s. from Central London includes luncheon in the air and admission to the course.
