Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DHL SUPPLY Chain is looking for authority to base 80 vehicles and 150 trailers at the B&Q Distribution Centre in Highworth Road, Swindon.

In June last year, B&Q decided to exit several of its UK sites and replace them with the new £77.4m Swindon DC.

Rick Jones, director of value chain logistics at B&Q, says the new facility will create about 550 jobs.

He adds: “We announced our plans to review our distribution strategy back in June 2010 leading to the establishment of a new regional distribution centre in Swindon, enabling us to improve our service to stores and in turn our customers.

“We are delighted that DHL will be our partner for our new development in Swindon, which is due to commence operating from the summer.” DHL is set to handle one million cases per week at Swindon.

B&Q says the new DC will bring products closer

to store, “improving customer service, as well as reducing transport miles, transport costs and CO2 emissions”.

In a separate development, DHL also wants to base 95 vehicles and 210 trailers at the new £95m Morrisons South West RDC in Kings Road, Bridgewater.

Morrisons announced in 2009 it would build the 800,000ft2 facility to serve a total of 63 stores.
