Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Somers Handling has now launched its range of lightweight mobile column lifts.

Between our original report (Workshop Dec/Jan 1993/4) and the IRTE show, Somers has redesigned the leadscrew and gearbox arrangement.

The lift will now travel from ground to its 1.6m maximum height in under a minute. To achieve this there is now a twin-start leadscrew with different gearbox ratios.

Other details remain unaltered: the weights are one, 1.5 and two tonnes per column; prices start from £6,500 for the lightweight set; and the single-axle option costs £660.
