Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• British hauliers and truck manufacturers will be busy over the next four years as the industry takes an upward turn, according to Road Transport Trends & Forecasts. Published by Commercial Motor's parent, Reed Business Publishing.

The forecasts are based on the state of the UK manufacturing industry as a whole and economic activity in general. The news is good for hauliers as tonne-kilometres are estimated to have increased by over 4% in 1987 — the highest growth rate in 10 years. A further 11% increase to 117 billion tonne-kilometres by 1991 is forecast.

El Road Transport Trends & Forecasts is available from Bernard Tomkins, phone 01-661 3252, priced 225, or .275 for four quarterly issues.
