When it comes to road transport a company vehicle is frequently the first line of contact with a potential customer, and a dirty, badly-painted truck is hardly the best way of telling anyone that you're on the ball. It's no accident that those companies with a flair for marketing and promotion have some of the smartest vehicles on the road — but you don't have to be a large fleet operator to have a good looking truck.
A well-liveried wagon is a mobile advertisement and plenty of hauliers have picked up business as a result.
Commercial Motor's livery competition has become the industry's way of showing what can be done to make CVs more attractive, successful marketing tools. We are pleased to announce that ICI Autocolor has become the overall event sponsor and that Fasson UK and the Freight Transport Association will once again be sponsoring awards in the competition.
Entries are now being accepted for the 1988 awards. The competition is open to all operators of commercial vehicles — from the smallest CDV to the largest 38-tonner, as well as all types of PSV.
Our judges will be looking for the very best in terms of vehicle livery. There is no set formula — simplicity ranks equal with adventurous design in our eyes. What we are looking for is effectiveness in conveying a good image of the operator to the public.
If you think your livery is good, get snapping and send us your entry. 1 Entry is free.
2 Send four 35nun colour transparencies (slides) of your vehicle, together with a completed entry form, to: Livery Awards '88, Cr ;zere Nlator, Room 403, Quad rant F Surrey SM2 5AS.
3 T. .cies should show the vehicle ,ead-on; one side complete; a right-hand front-three-quarters view and a left-hand rear-three-quarters view (so we can get an idea of what the vehicle looks like from all angles).
4 The closing date for entries is Friday 22 July, 1988.
5 We regret that transparencies submitted cannot be returned.
6 The results of the competition will be announced in our issue of 15-21 September 1988. Prizewinners will be notified in advance and will be invited to join us at a special awards ceremony.
