• LAG Bus, the UK subsidiary of the Belgian bus and coach manufacturer, has embarked on a major sales drive and managing director Vernon Edwards is aiming to build and sell up to 70 units by July 1989.
Previously known as Lag Viewbond, Northants-based LAG Bus is part of the parent company's new bus and coach division. LAG also produces rninicoaches and minibuses.
Edwards says the UK subsidiary will be dealing mainly in luxury touring coaches based on LAG's integral body. "We aim to be Britain's biggest supplier of single-deck integral coaches," he says. LAG will also sell up-market used coaches, sales of which account for 40% of the company's present turnover.
The LAG Panoramic integrals are offered with a choice of either Daf or Cummins engines for the UK market.
The company has no plans to establish an assembly plant in Britain yet, but Edwards says: "Although there is no provision in our five-year plan for assembly, in Britain, anything could happen thereafter."
