• Storage equipment specialist. Barton Handling + Storage Systems is moving out of the warehouse and onto the road with the launch of a specialist division, Vanquip, manufacturing van interior systems.
Vanquip has been formed to manufacture and market a British-produced range of vehicle interior storage systems aimed at increasing productivity across a range of field service activities. Barton sees the new division as a logical extension of its traditional activities in industrial and commercial storage equipment. "The escalating costs involved in running a service organisation have emphasised the need for a corresponding increase in productivity, which can only come through more efficient use of resources," comments Barton managing director John Stanley.
"We estimate that a properly equipped Vanquip service vehi cle, containing a wide range of spares and a suitable selection of tools and equipment can achieve at least one extra service call per day on average. Add to that the reduction in cases where equipment has to be sent back to the workshop rather than repaired on site, and the benefits in terms of customer satisfaction and reduced down-time become very significant indeed."
The new Vanquip Division is headed by sales executive John Owen, who has several years' experience in standard and specialised vehicle interior and customised storage systems.
