Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Avdel has announced an addition to the company's Nutsert range of threaded insert fasteners, which is known as the Thin Sheet Nutsert. It is a one-piece fastener that provides a strong and deep steel threaded insert in such materials as aluminium, plastic fibreglass and mild steel down to thicknesses of 0.02in. Claimed advantages include a high clench strength and the capability to withstand high loads without vibrating or working loose under extreme operating conditions.

Available in BA, BSW, BSF, UNF, UNC and metric thread forms, the Nutsert can be placed into any material blind — that is from one side of the workpiece. As a fastener it is said to be ideal for use in rectangular, tubular hollow section materials and to considerably simplify assembly operations. On painted assemblies, it can be installed as the final operation in the production process without causing damage to the surface finish. It also eliminates the need for capping or thread-masking which is generally associated with the application of other types of insert.

Held by the power tool, a Nutsert is placed into the prepared hole and in operation the tool pulls the threaded portion until the wall collapses radially outwards clenching it tight against the sheet. The tool is withdrawn, leaving the Nutsert ready to receive a screw or bolt. The complete operation takes only a few seconds and unskilled labour can be employed.
