Minister criticized
E Conservative Front Bench roundly
condemned Mrs. Barbara Castle on Wednesday for failing to respond to Opposition requests for a statement on the serious freight terminal strikes. A motion tabled by Mr. Peter Walker and 27 other Tories pointed out that the decision to nationalize Tartan Arrow— intended to get NUR agreement to open terminals—had in fact encouraged NUR elements to refuse to co-operate with free enterprise at Stratford. The Tories called on the Minister to say she was determined that the Stratford terminal would only operate "on the basis of co-operation between British Railways and the independent users and agents involved".
