CENSUS OF DISTRIBUTION: VITAL WEEK

THE first' census of distribution will be taken in 1951. Information will be asked concerning sales, purchases and so on, for the whole of 1950. Additionally, traders will be required to give details of the number of people employed and the wages paid in the week ending June 24, 1950.

Census forms will be distributed next year, and meanwhile it would be advisable for traders to note information this week for subsequent incorporation in the forms. The information required includes the number of persons employed, male and female, full time or part-time, whether under IS or over.

Wholesalers and retailers will be required to show how many persons were mainly engaged in production and how many in a Separate transport organization associated with the briSi-ness. Motor traders must show the number of persons engaged in repair work or production. Specimen forms may be obtained from the Board of Trade.
