MR. FREDERICK PEAKE has been appointed a director of the Potteries Traction Co., Ltd., in place of the late Mr, 0. C. Power.
MR, L. HARRAL, Of Manchester, has been appointed by the Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., to be general sales manager of a new Dunlopillo division to organize developments in cushioning for the postwar days., MAJOR MONK, MC., labour and welfare manager at Fort Dunlop, has been awarded the 0.13.E. For three years he has been chairman of Birmingham Civil Defence Committee, which controls the largest civil defence service in the United Kingdom, having some 200,000 members.
MR, FRANK LUCAS, who is well known in connection with haulage in the Luton area, and, before he waS taken ill some six months ago, as chairman of II.M.F., recently entered a hospital for a serious operation. His many friends will wish him a speedy recovery.
MR. A. PEPYS Sourax, well known in connection with Dennis publicity, has returned to his post with that company after an absence of several WeekS, during which he underwent an operation to what he describes as his " main longitudinal chassis member." He hopes shortly also to return to his N.F.S. and other vigorous activities. We hope that he will soon he that, oughly fit.
MR. L. H. BALLS, of Darlington, traffic nianager with the United Automobile Services, Ltd., recently received presentations before taking up• the appointment of general manager of the Thames Valley Traction Co., Ltd., amongst them being one from members of the Public Service Vehicle Advisory Committee (NI.O.W.T.), on which he has served since the war started. Mr. Balls had been with U.A,S. for 24 years.
MR, G. D. LITTLEJOHN, who has been awarded the B.E.M. (Civil Division). occupies the post of captain security officer with Park Royal Coachworks, Ltd., in which position he is responsible for the organization of all security measures against possible enemy action. His position in the works is that of foreman panel beater. The award was the result of.a display of much courage and resource in dealing .witha serious situation during the blitz period,
