South Wales Traffic Commissioners Adjourn Applications to Permit Operators to Confer AT the recent Swansea sitting of the South Wales Traffic Commissioners, Mr. A. T. james, K.O., the chairman, referred to the disorganized state of the bus services catering for the Swansea Valley, explaining that coordination amongst the various pro:. prietors must be arranged before

licences could be granted. He : "We propose giving a sort of general idea of what is passing through the commissioners' minds, and then all the licences which are affected will be adjourned to the July sitting." Except in one or two eases the commissioners . were not. prepared to grant any of the applications, because of the present irregularity of the time-tables.

The service of Messrs. James and Sons between Ammanford and Neath was approved on the time-tables submitted because it was co-ordinated with the Western Welsh service, but the same company's application in respect of a service between Swansea and Varteg was refused.

As regards the services of Messrs. James and Sons and the Eclipse Saloon Bus Co., between Swanseaand Amman ford, the commissioners' view was that the two companies should collaborate with the others in coordinating time-tables so that there should be a 20-minute service with equal efficiency for the two companies mentioned. With regard to the application of the South Wales Transport Co., Ltd., in respect of the service along the main Swansea Valley, route, the commissioners' upinion was that there should be three buses per hour, two being supplied by the South Wales Transport Co., Ltd., and the third by the Eclipse Saloon Bus Co.

The general effect on the Swansea Valley route, at which the commissioners are aiming, is a 10-minute service up to Gurnos and a more frequent service up to Pontardawe. In conclusion, the chairman said : "You must try to get order out of chaos on this route, as the whole thing is out of hand."
