preventing van doors from swinging outwards more than necessary when open and thus proving dangerous, whilst, at the same time, allowing them freely to be used, a new folding door stop has been placed on the market by Barnsdall and Co., Dig Street, Ashbourne.
This device is available in three fittings, one providing for an opening of about 90 degrees, whilst the otlfer two Permit the door to be opened any amount up to the full extent.
In the case of the first-named pattern, a hinged two-piece arm is bracketed at one end to' the inside of the rear body panel, just above the door, whilst the other, extremity is attached to the inner face of the door. When the door is open the arm forms the third side of a rightangle triangle. When the door is Closed the member folds about its centre. By the use of a special bracket having a plunger the arm may be immediately disconnected from the door, which can thus be opened for the maximum distance permitted by the binges: The third arrangement embodies three-sectioned arm. As in the case of the other models, the extremities of the firth are attached to the rear panel of the body and-to the door. When this-is open,the member is straight, but should it be -desired to lock the door in a partially closed position, one end of thatsection of the arm which is hinged to the door may be socketed into the plunger bracket ,Previously mentioned.
In that-position one part of the member is parallel with the door and the other two sections, being straight, form the thit'd side of a triangle.
The. price of the device for limiting the opening to 90 degrees is Ss. 6d. per pair of fittings, and with the plunger bracket it is Ss. 311. per pair, whilst the three-section outfit costs 9s. 6d.
