Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Andover Trailers is launching a new air suspension division under the control of sales director Ivan Collins.

The new division will install all types of air suspension on tractors, trailers and rigids, but will specialise in fitting a lift axle in front of the drive axle.

• For the past two years Andover has offered lifting mid third axles, and to cope with demand the company has decided to establish this new division.

Collins claims the mid third axle offers reduced tyre wear

and allows the positioning of a fixed (as opposed to a sliding) fifth wheel coupling to minimise vehicle length.

In the longer term Collins hopes to benefit from planned changes in the Special Types legislation currently before Parliament. He predicts the changes will boost the demand for air suspension conversions on steel sprung low loaders.

Technical developments at Andover Trailer's new division will be controlled by Cliff Goddard. No name has yet been chosen for the new division, which will be based at the company's existing premises.
