The SMMT may hold the view that our campaign is a "non-starter". We ask: is that a nsidered opinion or is it perhaps because we thought of it first?

Clearly, the Society's members do not hold the same opinion. The manufacturers rned out in force and we cannot believe that they would waste their time, money and anumental effort on a useless venture. We could have taken offence on being told that ?. were wasting our time and that all we were attempting had all been done before and led. We did not take offence because we are not ready to accept failure so easily. Every branch of the road transport industry, in our view, must get together to ensure at the British public comes to realise how important road transport is to the quality of We will not follow the SMMT man's advice and seek success by "knocking the ilways". This, on the contrary, is a constructive campaign. It is to build a reputation for ad transport, but not to destroy another facet of transport.
