ONE OF THE WOOD Inquiry panellists (see p3) is among five Greater London Council nominees appointed to the London Transport board.
She is Kerry Hamilton, a former production manager with a publishing company and author of a business history of British Rail from 1947 to 1973.
Two other new board members are Great' London Labour Party chairman Arthur Latham, who was Paddington MP from 1969 to 1979; 75-year-old Eleanor Lewin, a campaigner for improvements to public transport; Ernest Rodker, a self-employed businessman who was a prominent objector to the Amos London minibus proposals earlier this year; and Larry Smith, the Transport and General Workers Union executive officer who was previously the national secretary for_the.passenger transport
group at the TGWU. Mr Smith was a London bus driver from 1948 to 1962.
All five will receive a £3,500-ayear part-time salary and will serve for five years from July 20.
A sixth part-time board member will be appointed at a later date, restoring the board to its full strength of 10. LT chairman Keith Bright opposed the GLC's nominee to this position.
