Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

NATIONAL FREIGHT member Cartransport has taken delivery of 39 Mercedes-Benz 1625 chassis each powered by a 184kW (247bhp) V8 engine, from Sparshotts of Kent.

Twenty-two of the vehicles are conventional tractive units to be used with the company's Hoynor semi-trailers on its Toyota distribution contract, while the remaining 17 are close-coupled drawbar units equipped with French Lohr double-deck-body superstructures.

Matching tandem-axle fixed A-frame drawbar trailers, built by Lohr, meet the maximum 18m (59ft 0.5in) limit, and in combination with the vehicle can carry eight or nine cars depending on their size.

Compared with an orthodox hinged A-frame drawbar trailer the close-coupled type hitches to a towing eye located further forward on the prime mover. This reduces the swing clearance necessary between the trailer and vehicle, increasing the effective load space and improving manoeuvrability.

• Western BRS has joined Cartransport to help distribute the new Vauxhall Nova car.

Four of Western's Scania 821 units will be operated by Cartransport to collect the Spanishbuilt Novas from the new car terminal at Royal Portbury Docks in Bristol. feed stitch feature reduces the heat of the arc so that gapped joints and thin materials are more easily welded. Ease of control in spot-welding is obtained by use of the same electronic timer.

Welding wire sizes of up to 0.6 or 0.8mm can be used on the Autoweld 160 and 1.0mm on the 200 model.

Both units will weld any thickness of steel from 0.56.0mm (0.020-0.250in) thick and spot weld from one side, materials up to 1.4mm (0.056in).

A crisp, spatter-free arc is readily set up as induction is automatically varied throughout the current range.

Other features include the Butters lightweight single-cable MIG guns and heavy-duty-wire feed systems. The Autoweld 200 has the additional facility of being able to accept Butters Spoton Gun for high-class aluminium welding at remote distances.
