Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BECAUSE of 'the unacceptable costs of damage to goods in-transit the chemical company of Diversey Ltd is fitting the Shorfast load-control system to its vehicles.

This system, which is designed and manufactured by D. Dixon-Bate Ltd of Chester, comprises spring-loaded shoring bars which locate in specially, produced wall-mounted track sections inside the demountable containers used by Diversey.

Diversey runs a fleet of 80 demountable containers of 5or 8-ton capacity between two factories, five distribution terminals and the customers. The total mileage is about two million miles a year. It is estimated that before adopting the Shorfast system, pack damage and spillage cost thousands of pounds a year.

The Shorfast rolled steel track has alternate holes and slots at one inch centres to provide a multitude of attachment points for lashing, decking or shoring. The spring-loaded horizontal bars are available in lengths of 2 or 2Am (6ft 6in or 8ft), each of which can be telescopically reduced over a range of 457mm (18in) to suit vehicle body widths.
