• At a recent Press conference Dr Sonne, chairman of the West German heavy goods
vehicle concern KioecknerHumboldt-Deutz, revealed that plans for a K HD link up with the Soviet Union to build a large engine factory, additional to the proposed Kama plant, are being negotiated.
Dr Sonne said that his company had supplied the Russians with a number of six-and eight-cylinder air-cooled engines for tests at extreme temperatures. These tests had proved satisfactory and KHD had been asked to make a licence offer.
