THE worst weather canditions for many years are forcing drivers on the Middle East run to abandon their vehicles in Turkey.
Mr Hugh MacLennan, managing director of MacLennan Bros of South Wales, told CM that the cold had frozen fuel systems and burst batteries. Two of his drivers were compelled to fly home from Ankara last weekend after their vehicles fell victim to the weather.
Mr MacLennan said that he would be returning to Turkey to collect his vehicles with the two drivers. "I understand that the vehicles which were abandoned in December are now completely covered in snow to a height of more than four metres and nothing can be done till the thaw comes."
