Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IN a pilot scheme designed to help in long-term corrosion tests a number of VW transporter doors have undergone galvanising treatment at the HAKU works near Hanover. To prevent heat deformation of the steel doors in the zinc-coating stage at 450°C the dipping process was accelerated.

Galvanising of automotive parts on the Continent is being carried out i.a. by Volvo, Mercedes-Benz and Neoplan while MAN is subjecting certain psv underframe members to this rust-prevention method. In the VW experiments the extra cost of just over £3 per door is expected to be recovered by increased component life.
