Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ONE operator who is using his ingenuity to overcome the current economic situation is Mr T. Squires, of Squires Transport, Hampton, Middlesex.

In the past six months he has been able to increase his fleet from three to five vehicles —and his latest addition is a drawbar trailer outfit of 23 tons capacity that has cost him only £5,500 in all.

The outfit can be run as flats or as container carriers—with built-in twistlocks—which is useful for a firm which carries mainly steel and bananas.

The Leyland Buffalo was bought secondhand, one year old, and the cost of the vehicle and of converting it from a boxvan to an alloy flat was about £4,500. The bodywork was converted by CME, of Stoke, and the vehicle now weighs 5 tons newt.

The drawbar trailer, also bought used, was renovated by Doughty, of Bournemouth—it has been fitted with twistlocks and a Jost turntable.

Now 58ft 66in overall, the outfit can carry two 20ft containers.
