A NEW service to distribution managers was unveiled last week. A BRS computer "package," called Pathfinder can quickly and accurately estimate the number and size of the vehicles required for a given delivery area—normally a county or region. It can also show the effect of adding to or subtracting from a depot network and demonstrates the effect of speed or time constraints on the number of vehicles needed for specific operations.
The quantity of goods for delivery and the number of calls to be made are listed in map grid squares and fed into the computer, back come planning routes with information on load size, route mileage, the time taken and number of deliveries
