BECAUSE of the present economic situation, Croda International Ltd of Goole had reduced the number of vehicles operating from its Winthorpe, Newark, depot from 10 to three, the East Midlands LA, Mr C. M. Sheridan, was told this at Nottingham last week when the company appeared before him because of unsatisfactory maintenance.
A DoE vehicle examiner agreed with Mr G. E. Bates, the secretary of the company, that inspection and maintenance had shown a distinct improvement and the workshop facilities were adequate.
Mr Sheridan said he was happy about the improvement and would take no punitive action. He warned that the company must continue with its new procedures.
