1-." Birmingham and Liverpool have threatened to withdraw their labour unless employers pay compensation of 3s. 6d. per 25 miles or provide temporary cabs to give protection against the weather.
The Transport and General Workers Union are stated to have given their support to the 500 men involved. At present, the employers pay Is. 6d. per 25 miles to delivery men, in addition to the basic rates. An offer of an extra 6d. per 25 miles has been rejected. If the present claim were met, the cost of delivering chassis from Birmingham to London would be considerably increased.
