Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

CoURIER FIRM First Call Heathrow has entered liquidation after 17 years in business because of customers’ debts and the loss of a storage contract.

First Call director Martin Cowie, who owned the Greater London-based company, says he was “left in the lurch” when a major customer saddled the irm with a substantial debt, and was hit with a double whammy when another client opted to move its storage to a different facility. He adds: “We also lost a large contract when one of our London agency clients went bust on Christmas Eve.”

Cowie says the ever-increasing cost of fuel and LEZ truck con

versions exacerbated the company’s inancial dificulties further.

The irm, which specialised in courier services, storage and distribution within London, Surrey, Middlesex and Berkshire, held an o-licence for four vehicles at its site in Staines, Middlesex, and a second o-licence for four vehicles and one trailer at its site in Chertsey, Surrey.

The irm employed 13 members of staff, who were all made redundant upon the company entering liquidation. Liquidator Harrisons Business Recovery and Insolvency says it is unlikely a dividend will be available for unsecured creditors.
