Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A CARDIFF CONSTRUCTION haulier is set to go into creditors’ voluntary liquidation after three difficult years of trading wiped out its “substantial surplus”. Amodeo Haulage is expected to be wound up following a meeting of creditors on 28 February.

The firm is part of holding company Amodeo Group, along with Mike Amodeo (Contractors). Administrator Begbies Traynor says all three have ceased trading, with 26 employees made redundant. It held a licence for 10 vehicles and 15 trailers.

Peter Dewey, a partner at Begbies Traynor, says the group suffered in the current economic climate and its effect on the construction sector. “Turnover had been dropping and was no longer enough to cover overheads,” he says.

MD Mike Amodeo did not respond to CM’s calls.
