• Britain's bodybuilders look set to embrace the International Standard ISO 9000 in preparation for 1992 and the Single European Market (SEM).
Members of the National Manufacturers Council of the Vehicle Bodybuilders and Repairers Association have voted to adopt the international standard_ VBRA director general Bob McCartney says: "1992 is a serious consideration for all bodybuilders. Even if they do not intend to compete for business in Europe, the European companies will be looking to expand into the UK. They will be bringing with them their European quality standard and it is likely to become the benchmark by which customers will judge tenders."
The VBRA is talking to the DTp, the Department of Trade and Industry and the British Standards Institute in the hope that ISO 9000 will be accepted among its members in this country —a VBRA meeting will consider the scheme next month.
