FOWLER ON THE MENU AT RHA DINNER • Principal guest and speaker at the Road Haulage Association's annual dinner will be Secretary of State for Employment Norman Fowler MP. The dinner will be held at the Grovesnor House Hotel, Park Lane, London on 9 May.

Fowler is expected to talk about his White Paper "Employment in the 1990s", which particularly affects the road transport industry.

B RITISH STANDARDS • The North Eastern and Eastern districts of the Road Haulage Association are running a series of seminars on the British Standards mark 5750.

The seminars are intended to give hauliers a basic grounding on the standard mark in relation to costs, benefits, registration and practical effects. Eastern district seminars will be held from 7-9 March and hauliers wishing to attend should phone (0733) 261131 for a booking form and information pack.

TALKLAND RENTAL SCHEME • T.Iikland has started a new rental service for cellular telephones, radio pagers and facsimile equipment, aiming to bring rental prices down.

Talldand's daily rate for a hand-portable telephone, including insurance, is £10.95 with call charges of 18 pence per metered unit. The monthly charge is £7.60 a day. All rentals come with instruction packs.
