MI Alexander of Falkirk has now completed delivery of the 107 midibuses ordered by London Buses for use on inner-city routes, and could be contracted to build up to 250 more bodies on Mercedes 811D midibus chassis as London Buses gears up to face Harry Blundred's Docklands Transport operation, which will run 100 minibuses.
Roger Bowker, head of LB's East London Bus & Coach Company, is adamant that Blundred's incursion will be resisted.
As a first step in this process, a new, simplified group of services will start serving Docklands from 4 March and a Beckton-City route will be launched on the same date.
