Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Boalloy has lured a top production engineer back from the United States to oversee the company's manufacturing operations, enabling managing director Gerald Broadbent to concentrate on the company's push into Europe.

The new recruit, expatriate Tom Skinner, currently heads production at five US electrical factories. Skinner will become chief executive at Boalloy on 1 April.

Broadbent expects a 100% increase in production from Boalloy's Spanish plant this year, and increases of around 25% from its French and Dutch plants. Total production from these plants could exceed 3,000 bodies.

The company also plans to develop in other European markets, by co-operative agreements or by developing new Boalloy manufacturing plants. Broadbent expects to make a major announcement on further European expansion in April.

One of Skinner's jobs in this country will be to speed the company's progress to the BS 5750 quality code. He predicts a 10% increase in UK output this year.
