Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Until now, efficient lighting without a 220-volt supply from the mains or a generator, has been but a dream for many. Teklite says it is now practical.

The Teklite 6500 lighting sys

teni—uses an energy convertor which converts the 12 or 24-volt direct current of an automobile battery into the electrical energy form needed to power a high-pressure sodium lamp. The

system produces 6,500 lumens of illumination, comparable with 350 Watts of halogen lighting, for a consumption of less than 8amps of current from a 12-volt battery.

The drawback of warm-up time associated with sodium lamps is overcome by the incorporation of a 50-Watt filament lamp which switches out automatically after two minutes. Typical applications for this new lighting system are said to include emergency, security and police vehicles, and nightworking loaders.
