Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Leyland Daf has revealed that it is looking at the latest Perkins Eagle TX engine currently under development for possible use in its Roadtrain tractive unit.

According to the company, it has no definite plans, but "obviously as one of Perkins major customers we are aware of it and are evaluating it."

Few details are available on the 12-litre TX engine, although Seddon Atkinson is also looking at its use in the Strato. A TX-powered Strato could break cover in the summer at the same time as a twin-steer Strato tractor.

The current Eagle air-towater charge-cooled range stretches from 198-261kW (265-350hp). An advanced airto-air 'Concept' Eagle engine was, however, shown at the Motor Show last October, and according to Perkins "certain parts of the concept engine will be seen (on production engines) fairly soon", including air-to-air charge-cooling. The 'production' engine referred to is likely to be the TX.

A 242kW (325hp) Eagle engine is used in the mostpowerful 20.33 Roadtrain 6x2.
