Anthony Stanton has been made managing director of Cory Distribution. He has worked for Ocean Cory Ltd since 1955 when he joined Wm Cory and Son. Prior to his new appointment, he was personnel director of Ocean Cory Ltd and he will remain a member of its Board in his new post.

Cory Distribution's new business development manager is Philip Foster who joined the Ocean group in 1969 and was previously regional manager for the South-east (UK) in Cory Oil Distribution.

Alan Major has been promoted to sales consultant for Corybond, the drinks service operated by Cory Distribution. He joined the company in 1972.

Cartransport's new Milton branch manager is Derek Bennett. He recently took over the branch — the consolidation of the Sandy Lane and Wheatley depots — having started there as traffic manager.

Prior to joining Avis Trucks 12 months ago, he had been working in the lorry rental industry for six years. West Midlands Passenger Transport has named Stephen Arthur as district traffic superintendent, Sandwell based at West Bromwich.

Mr Arthur is currently senior planning officer with South Glamorgan County Council and previously worked with South

down Motor Services and South Wales Transport Company. He replaces Brian Fisher who becomes principal assistant traffic manager with Plymouth City Transport.

Neil Renshaw takes up the position, of general sales manager at the new Seddon Atkinson franchise facility at Markham Moor. Mr Renshaw will be responsible for sales of Colt cars and Seddon Atkinson commercial vehicles. He was formerly based at Seddon's Nottingham depot as a sales executive.

Managing director at the new Seddon Atkinson division at Markham Moor will be Ken Fenton.

Two new executives have been added to the sales staff of ECON Traction Ltd.

Tony Hird becomes regional sales executive for the Northern franchise area prior to which he ran an agricultural contracting company based in Suffolk.

James Gordon has been appointed regional sales executive for the Eastern franchise area of Hertford and Essex. He was previously a sales representative with an agricultural sales engineering company in the South. •

Glenton Tours Ltd has recently had a boardroom shuffle and has named Peregrine Smith as its nev. managing director, Mr Smith, s. solicitor, is the grandson of thE company's founder, thus maintaining an unbroken family line of management.

Retiring from the company are existing directors Ronalc Mackenzie (with the company since 1931) and Frank Con. lend (since 1939). They will however, retain their connectior with the company in a consul tative capacity. Maurice Sax. ton moves from managinr director to chairman.

Tankfreight driver Paul Smith has received a bravery award from National Freighi Corporation chairman, Bobbie Lawrence, after driving a blazing tractive unit to safety (see Birds eye view).
