THE CHARTERED Institute of Transport and the Institute of Road Transport Engineers have formed a joint standing council.
Its aim is to develop transport policies for the benefit of the community and to promote the professional interests of the members of both institutes.
The joint standing council is made up of the presidents, four senior members and the chief executives of both bodies. Small working parties will be set up to examine a variety of current topics.
Energy problems and the Foster Report on operator's licensing are among possible subjects for early discussion.
