IE FIRST Scammell Routeman eight-wheeler with the new ,yland TLI1 engine has entered service with the Arney Roadme Corporation.
ARC already operates a large fleet of Routemans and has Lrchased the new TL11-engined version for evaluation_ If ccessful, this power unit will be specified in future vehicles for C.
The TLI 1 is a six cylinder in-line turbocharged engine with rsions rated up to 186kW (250bhp). The ARC Routeman has a Ala engine rated at 155.9kW (209bhp). This compares with the 1.8kW (190bhp) of the 680 engines in ARC's existing nitemans.
The ARC vehicle also has a new lightweight Craven Tasker isktip light alloy body.
ARC is currently using its new Routeman at a quarry site in )merset.
