AIt is not known why you should

wish to do this but exemption is contained in Section 109 of the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1973 for machinery attached to or forming part of the vehicle which is required to be used for ancillary purposes. In other words, if the engine of your caterpillar tractor is kept running in order to work some other equipment, it might be that you could invoke the exemption.
