Ilk NEW trolley-gantry for container handling at warehouses and distribution points was demonstrated in London recently by Rollalong Ltd. Designed to handle a safe working load of 12 tons, the trolleygantry is built of hollow rectangular steel sections. It is equipped with a self-contained hydraulic system powered by a 15 h.p., 440volt three-phase drip-proof motor mounted on a 30-gal. hydraulic reservoir housing the necessary pumps, valves and controls. The two hydraulic cylinders comprise a 6 in. bore cylinder with a 3 in. diameter ram rod connected to a horizontal lifting beam capable of lifting the full pay load at approximately 3 ft. per minute. The rams are

• self-adjusting to ensure even lifting.

The trolley-gantry is fitted with 10 in. diameter swivel lock casters and when unloaded can easily be moved by manpower. Detachable tie bars are fitted transversely for load stabilization when the trolley-gantry is moved under power, using the towing attachment. Chain or wire slings can be secured to U-shackles on the lifting beam if required.
