FLEET operators purchasing Ford 5 and 7 cwt. vans can have their company signs and advertising slogans applied to the vehicles on the normal production line.
A system has been put into operation at the Ford factory at Hailwood, nr. Liverpool, which incorporates a new type of transfer using Scotchcal film developed by the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Co. Ltd. The transfer is applied before the vehicle is painted thus protecting it from peeling and chipping.
Production line signwriting is said to be quicker and cheaper than the conventional type. Premasked, pre-spaced lettering or emblems are used in the system and these can be cut out or painted and are ready for direct application.
Marley Tile Co. Ltd. was the first company to use the fleet-marking system and has had 30 vans written with this method. Transfers on the rear, front and sides of the van body plus smaller transfers on each front door cost about £8 per vehicle.
