Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A' injection nozzle shown in patent No. 851,629 is claimed to ensure efficient atomization at both low and high fuel deliveries without creating an excessively high operating pressure at maximum delivery (Lexington Products, Ltd., Lex House, 3-6 Alfred Place, Tottenham Court Road, London. W.C.1). At low delivery rates, fuel passesthrough bores (1) in disc (2) and then down to the valve (3) which is opened by the pressure build-up and fuel is injected into the cylinder, the free space (4) remaining open. At high delivery rates the valve is moved farther away from its seat and the disc engages with the synthetic rubber ring (5), closing the free space. Resistance to valve opening is then increased by the need to compress the ring and it is claimed that this ensures satisfactory delivery under high delivery conditions. The properties of the nozzle can be adjusted within wide limits by altering the position of the disc, by adding shims under the spring, by using a rubber ring with altered characteristics, and by replacing the distance piece with one of a different length.
