Davis of the Allsop Motor Syndicate, Ltd., and from what I could see they are just about placing on the market an excellent engine, for commercial vehicles, which will merit some attention. It is no secret that this engine is being made by the Aster Engineering Co., Ltd., which fact, by reason of Aster's high reputation, will go a long way to assist the sale of Aliso') engines. Further details may be looked for very shortly.

One more word about the Overseas number, and then I will leave it for a month or two, by which time we shall be hearing of inquiries and orders coming through. I think it will be conceded that we made the date of publication clear by notices in this journal, by personal letters from the editorial staff, and by reminders from the business department—still, much eniinently appropriate matter; and advertisements too, reached us when the special issue had already gone to

Too Hard to Bear,

press, and some reached us when it was actually on sale. I have gone into all this "to point a moral or adorn a tale," as Dr. Johnson, I believe, puts it. For future special issues, be therefore early; it cuts the editorial staff to the quick to leave out pertinent interestiug matter, and

"At Christmas, play and make good cheer, for Christmas comes but once a year." By the time The Season's these columns reach

Greetings or expectant multitude, everyone will be in the thick of Yuletide anticipation. Already, as I write, cards with the season's greetings have commenced pouring in, the first-comers being from Colonial friends, who cannot always time them to the day, but it warms the heart to find oneself thus rernem

bered. Why, it was only the other day, a. chum was telling me that his father returned to this country, after 20 years of absence abroad, and, going into his favourite restaurant for luncheon, he glided into his accustomed seat. It was good to find the same waiter, as of old, after this lapse of years, but it was a gladdening heart-warming surprise to find his favourite dish was remembered, for the waiter approached him with the greeting : " Clad to see you back, sir

• fried sole, sir? " Christmas, I say, is enveloping us by this time, and, as we menfolk get older, we incline, at this period, to smaller portions of pudding and bigger cigars. It occurs to me, it is just two years since the first, instalment of " Out and Home " was launched on an unsuspecting body of readers, and, although I often feel how inadequate it all is, I receive many evidences that this feature is regularly scanned—if not eagerly, at any rate with interest. May I, therefore, venture to extend to my friends amongst our readers, and others whom I hope will become my friends, the warmest of Christmas greetings, and a hope that the New Year will bring happiness to all.
