THE OWNER of failed haulage firm Reading Freight Service says rising fuel costs and a proliferation of pallet networks contributed to its demise after 21 years of trading. The firm collapsed last month owing £1m to creditors. Its liquidation is being overseen by Harrisons Business Recovery.
MD Ralph Casbeard says margin pressure, especially in the pallet sector, delivered the killer blow.
“There are too many networks these days. The margins aren’t there anymore,” says the former Palletways member.
